History Of The Stamp In Florida:

The United States Postal Service (USPS) had very humble beginnings. In 1775 Benjamin Franklin was appointed the first Post Master General of US Mail as it was referred to at that time he was tasked with creating a postage network for the whole country. Subsequent development saw the name change to the US Post Office Department in 1792 and this department was then elevated to a cabinet ranked department of the United States government in 1872.

The year 1971 saw its operations streamlined further and brought under the Federal government as an agency governed by federal law and was named the United States Postal Service.

Today there are over 600 thousand active employees and the world’s largest fleet of civilian vehicles with 211,264 of them serving US citizens and businesses throughout the country.

The USPS meets a very important need of the people and companies that it serves, that is to deliver letters, postcards and parcels and packages from one to entity to another, with efficiency, afford-ability, and consistency.

One important aspect of their efficiency goal is the requirement for easy access to all USPS services offered by citizens and businesses throughout the country. This alone is a gargantuan task with many people living in remote and rural areas. The success of the USPS is largely due to their innovative way of bringing accessibility to the people and this can be shown on the Florida maps above. By incorporating a number of third party businesses into offering their services they have made the postage stamp far more accessible than if they were left doing the entire job themselves.
